UIL Success

We want to brag about LMS success in Academic UIL Events. For several years now, LMS students have Swept the UIL Contests when competing against Big Spring, Sweetwater, San Angelo, Lake View, and Snyder. LMS Principal Brad Clanton brags on the success of the LMS UIL Program because of the dedication of his UIL Coaches to working with students. Each week teachers challenge UIL students' learning during Advisory Period, as well as before and after school if need be. Led by UIL Coordinators LeeAnn Jackson and Estella Quilantan, these teachers make a cohesive team that enables students to compete with high-performance goals. Our teachers accept UIL academics as an extension of their classroom. One coach stated, "A student may not always win their event but has instilled success so that they can learn beyond what is expected of them, which is the key to becoming a productive citizen." UIL is synonymous with achieving more success in the classroom through winning, losing, meeting or exceeding expectations, or simply making new relationships that will last a lifetime. At LMS, students try out early on, teachers help them find one of the seventeen events that interest them or an event that they are willing to learn more about, and then the preparation begins. This year there are 127 students participating. Most of these 6th, 7th, & 8th graders are competing in more than one event! Our LMS students compete next week in Big Spring and we wish them and the LMS Coaches the best of luck! You're in the right place!
