MS sixth-graders in Mrs. Mixie Clowe's history are wrapping up their year with virtual penpals. They are experiencing and collaborating through the technology program, PenPal Schools, that connects them to dozens of other countries to help them learn about other countries' history from their daily life activities, food, art, and leisure. Students were excited about learning, and they are sharpening other skills too through reading, writing, and special projects in the computer software. Students read and analyze non-fiction texts to learn about cultures in other countries. They write to other students worldwide, find out more about the topic, and correct their penpal's writing and grammar. They are learning about equality and building empathy, curiosity, and respect. What a great way, Mrs. Clowe, to tie all their learning together for the year!
