LISD celebrates National School Nurse Day! Our nurses care for our children every day and promote learning through healthy children. Our school nurses are often the first place students think to go when they don’t feel well or are hurt. But they also provide a wealth of information that supports a successful education as well. Today's observance reminds us of all the reasons our nurses are available to our schools. They provide more than bandaids for scrapes on the playground. They check for fevers when a child shows the first sign of illness. Our school nurses are first responders for medical concerns on our campuses. They advocate for students, too, by making referrals for pediatric care when necessary. Our school nurses play a vital role in guiding students to healthy lifestyles. All the roles our school nurses play lead to healthier students who prepared for learning. We thank you, Jodi Barnes, for all that you do!
