CTE Month: Cooking Class

It's Career and Technical Education month!  This campaign will help make you aware of all the CTE courses, achievements, and accomplishments in our CTE programs at LISD. LISD offers over 47 CTE courses and we are going to share a lot of them with you this month.  These CTE classes help students prepare for life after high school and it's never too early to start! All students aren't college-bound, so many of these courses will help students get their feet on the ground toward a career! Today we are starting our campaign with LHS students in Mrs. Melissa Young's CTEd cooking class.  These students come every day, ready to prepare meals for the LMS teachers while learning all the kitchen rules and expectations.  They chop, measure, mix, problem solve, bake, and cook food every day under Mrs. Young and Mrs. Burt's direction.  Not only do students learn the fun part of cooking, but they also master the hard part of keeping the kitchen clean as well. Today they are putting together a recipe from LISD Board of Trustee, Treva Potter's cookbook: Nancy's TaterTot Casserole.  Learning these skills will enable students to hold down a job in a restaurant!  Thank you, Mrs. Young and Burt, for your loving guidance in giving students a choice after high school.
