LMS students in Mrs. Missy Passmore's Career and College Readiness Classes are learning about real life! Students all have an online bank account in the class that helps them learn to manage money. Mrs. Passmore runs the class like a business, she's the boss and they are the employees. They get a monthly paycheck, but students have to pay bills (desk rent, cleaning, etc) and have other expenses (bathroom pass, pencil rental, etc) throughout the month. At the end of the nine weeks Mrs. Passmore opens up her Store and students can go shopping with the money they have been able to save. They learn why it's important to take care of business and that they can save their money to purchase something they want but don't have the money for yet. They can purchase things like candy, college pennants, extra credit passes, crazy pens, LISD logos, etc. What a great way to get the real point across!
